Hazardous Waste? No Problem! Two Collection Events Coming to Upper Bucks Area

Safely disposing of household chemicals shouldn't be a headache. This year, the Bucks County Board of Commissioners is making it easy for residents in the northern end of the county to get rid of hazardous materials responsibly and for free.

Where and When to Go

Upper Bucks residents have two convenient opportunities to drop off their materials from 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM:

  1. Spring Event (May 30): Held at the Upper Bucks County Technical School (3115 Ridge Road, Perkasie)

  2. Fall Event (October 24): Held at Strayer Middle School (1200 Ronald Reagan Drive, Quakertown)

What to Look For

Check your labels! If you see words like Danger, Warning, or Caution, it’s likely a candidate for these events. This includes:

  • Garden & Pool: Weed killers, pesticides, and pool chemicals

  • Workshop: Oil-based paints, stains, and thinners

  • Automotive: Gasoline, antifreeze, and lead-acid batteries

Important Reminders

While these events handle many "tough" items, they cannot accept everything. Please leave electronics (including TVs and cell phones), tires, appliances, and regular alkaline batteries at home. Additionally, latex paint is not considered hazardous; simply dry it out with an absorbent like kitty litter and dispose of it with your regular household waste.

By participating, you aren't just cleaning your home—you're protecting local sanitation workers and keeping toxic chemicals out of our soil and water. For more info, visit www.buckscounty.gov/recycling
